  • NASA; Physiological and Molecular Genetic Effects of Time-Varying Electromagnetic Fields on Human Neuronal Cells.

In both experimental configurations, the proliferation rate of the TVEMF cells was 2.5 to 4.0 times the
rate of the non-waveform cells. In other words, PEMF technology utilized in this study improved the cell growth rate compared to the control group. This shows that PEMF therapy speeds up cell recovery, leading to better cell function and overall health.

PEMF therapy was used in management of postsurgical pain and edema, the treatment of chronic wounds, and in facilitating vasodilatation and angiogenesis. It resulted in successful pain management while producing no negative side effects. This shows that PEMF therapy could be a great option for people who recently had a surgery, those with chronic pain or wounds, and others.

  • National Center for Biotechnology Information; Improvement of Pain and Disability in Elderly Patients With Degenerative Osteoarthritis of the Knee Treated With Narrow-Band Light Therapy

Pain reduction in the infrared group after treatment was more than 50% in all scoring methods (P less than 0.05), while the placebo group had no significant improvement in pain reduction. Also, functional improvement in infrared-treated groups significantly improved (p less than 0.05), but not in the placebo group. This means that pain reduction and functionality may be improved for certain individuals by using infrared light therapy.
